How To Make Homemade Chocolate Syrup

Among the basic ingredients involved in making chocolate syrups include unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar, and water. Other ingredients are corn syrup and malt. Flavorings such as vanilla extract could be used, too.

In black-and-white movies of the past, chocolate syrup was usually used to simulate blood. The reason for this is because it was safe to swallow, and it’s easy to get rid of when it gets to the clothing and also very affordable. Besides The Wasp Woman and Psycho, this chocolate syrup was used in many movies.

I can help you make chocolate syrup you can use over ice cream or use in baking chocolate syrup brownies. Very easy and you need not drain your pocket! You can even use Splenda in replacement of sugar to lessen the caloric content. If you use Splenda, you can use it as a drink mix or topping and do not bake with it. Additionally, considering it does not store very well when made with Splenda, make sure to consume within a couple days of making.

Ingredients required are 1 cup unsweetened cocoa, 2 cups sugar, or Splenda, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 cups cold water, 1 tablespoon vanilla that will give a perfect chocolate syrup.

To make lindt-ish chocolate at home, you can do the following:

• Whisk together cocoa, sugar and salt.

• Whisk in cold water.

• Cook over medium-low heat, whisking to combine, until thickened.

• Let cool.

• Add vanilla.

• Store in the refrigerator

You can now make the perfect chocolate syrup and make use of it in of dishes to make them even more interesting.

Chocolate Chip Pancake Help?!?!?

Brandon Asked: Chocolate Chip Pancake Help?!?!?

Tomorrow is the day of my brother’s final and I was going to get up early and surprise him by making him breakfast. I am just going to make chocolate chip pancakes from the box but if I wanted to just make chocolate chocolate chip pancakes how would I go about doing this? I don’t have any cocoa powder so could I maybe add chocolate syrup and mix it directly into the batter? I need it within 11 hours so thanks!

Answers:

Sandy K Answered:
You add chocolate chips, I don’t think chocolate syrup will add taste to the pancakes.

RoyS Answered:
You can add a bit of chocolate syrup to the mix, and add chocolate chips. If the batter seems too runny, add more flour/pancake mix.

I am in the mood for a chocolate milkshake, but we have no ice cream!
How do I make one without ice cream?

pennybarr Answered:
Milk, chocolate syrup and ice liquefied in a blender. Won’t taste quite the same without the ice cream.

Diva Answered:

Ingredients

2 cups milk
1/8 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 cup non-dairy powdered coffee creamer
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 full size ice cubes

Directions

Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high until smooth.  Add more or less cocoa powder to your taste preference.  You can also substitute 1/4-1/2 cup of powdered chocolate milk mix such as Nestles Quick, or Ovaltine.  In this case you might want to reduce the sugar you add.

Hmmm… no ice cream huh? maybe u could try milk and then add some kind of cream like whipped cream. i guess u know the chocolate part… if u don’t then I guess add chocolate syrup. if u don’t have any, then melt some chocolate then put it in the fridge for a bit. If u have no chocolate than use a yoohoo chocolate drink, if u don’t have any, then i guess u know ur plans for this weekend at the supermarket. =) hope my answer helped a lot.

Things You’ll Need
1 cup water
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup sugar
Dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Jar with lid or squeeze bottle

Combine 1/2 cup cocoa, 1 cup sugar and a dash of salt in a saucepan over medium heat.

Add 1 cup water slowly to the mixture, and whisk until smooth.

Bring the mixture to a soft boil for about one minute while stirring.

Remove the pan from the heat, and place in the freezer for about five minutes to chill. When the mixture has cooled to the touch, stir in 1 tsp. vanilla.

Pour the chocolate syrup mixture in a jar with a lid or a squeeze bottle, and refrigerate. The mixture keeps safely for around four weeks.

I love it when I can easily make something at home and it turns out to be just as good or better than the more expensive store-bought kind. Ive been wanting to try some homemade chocolate syrup. The basic recipe is very simple, but there are a few variations of it, so the other day I decided to experiment with them and have a chocolate syrup taste test. Not a shabby way to spend the afternoon!

The one I liked the best was from Amy Dacyczyns The Complete Tightwad Gazette.

1 cup cocoa powder
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix the cocoa powder and the water in a saucepan. Heat and stir to dissolve the cocoa. Add the sugar, and stir to dissolve. Boil for 3 minutes over medium heat. Be careful not to let it get too hot and boil over! Add the salt and the vanilla. Let cool. Pour into a clean glass jar, and store in the refrigerator. Keeps for several months, but trust me it will be gone before then. Yields two cups.

The result is very rich, so I only use a teaspoon for a glass of chocolate milk.

I poured the chocolate into a flip-top glass bottle and added a label. These would make cute hostess gifts or party favors!

You could totally use chocolate syrup! I tried this recipe and it was really good 🙂

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter (no substitutions), room temperature
1/2 cup sifted unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
3 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted (measure out 3 cups before sifting)
1 tablespoon whipping cream or half and half
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

Mix butter, cocoa powder, and chocolate syrup in a large mixing bowl.  Beat together at a low speed just until combined.

Add the confectioners sugar, whipping cream, and vanilla.  Use low speed until the sugar is mixed in.  Then increase to medium speed and beat 1 minute until mixture is smooth and easily spreadable.  If it’s too thick add a little more whipping cream.  If too thin add a little more sugar.
